Young Economist

In 2019, Lorenzo Wienecke and Juri Galkin launched a new project titled "Young Economist," the second initiative under the umbrella of the Initiative for Economic Youth Education (IWJB gGmbH). While the first project, Zukunftstag, focuses on educating young adults about financial literacy, Young Economist takes a more dynamic approach by connecting participants with individuals who have achieved long-term success in their respective fields. Participants gain valuable career insights by engaging in discussions and asking these professionals for advice. Originally conceived as a live, in-person interview format with an audience, Young Economist has since evolved into an online podcast, expanding its accessibility and reach.

 

 

 In the early stages of this project, I was responsible for managing social media content to keep followers informed about upcoming and past events. After two years, I had to step away from this role to prioritize completing my college degree, compounded by the challenges of managing a six-hour time difference between Germany and the East Coast.

Since my return to Germany in November 2024, I have resumed my involvement in this project with a focus on supporting live podcast recordings. My responsibilities include ensuring that cameras and lighting are properly positioned and configured before the recording begins. During the recording, my role varies based on the size of the team and the event, encompassing tasks such as directing (Regie), operating cameras, and serving as the Creative Director. In the latter capacity, I ensure seamless communication between the directing team, film camera operators, and photographers to maintain a cohesive production workflow.
